And you see your old one sitting on the dealership lot :’(
I miss this car so much. I really hope it goes to a good home where someone will understand how much love and care was put into it. Unfortunately someone will probably buy it and tear it to pieces. I’ll just pretend that doesn’t happen though and hope I never see the car again. I know its just a car, but I felt really devastated letting her go.

that had to be the worst feeling. With that said, I’m currently shopping a Fiesta ST as a next ride after the abarth

Did you check out how much they jacked up the asking price over what they gave you?
Long ago, when I parted with my very favorite Civic Si, because I didn’t have the $600 to replace the ECU, I got $1200 for it at the dealer. A month later it was out front for $4k. That hurt.

Part of me wants to know what happened to my old cars, but a large part of me is glad that I don’t know and can’t find out (the ones that I’m curious about don’t have 17 digit VINs, so no Carfax). I have a strong feeling I’d be sad to know.

Just a car? JUST A CAR? JUST A CAR?!

That Zinc yellow or screamin yellow?

That is a beautiful Mach.
But the new Fiesta!

They gave me 7 for it, which is what I wanted for a trade in. I would’ve sold it at about 10, but they’re asking 11,900 and it’s just going to sit there at that price. Especially when the potential buyer hears the squeak from the idler pulley I never got to replacing. It definitely hurts a little. But I know it is not selling at that price.

Maybe they replaced it, hence the price hike?

I actually managed to memorize my VIN. But after it sells I never want anything to do with it again. It will hurt too much to look back.

It really was. But I am also very happy with my Fiesta ST. I have never laughed so much in a car.

It was far more than just a car to me. Especially getting so lucky with finding that one as my first. But it was time.

That car at 115K is in such great condition. Except for the headlights because I threw the stock, somewhat foggy ones back on to sell the newer set. I really hated to let go of such a great car.
But ya, the ST is awesome!

I actually have the VIN for my first car still memorized (all but 1 digit) - bought and sold in 1984. I have keys for both it and my 2nd car, too (bought and wrecked in 1984, don’t ask...)
But with 13 digit VINs, there’s no source. Reality is, I can’t imagine they survived Cash for Clunkers, if they even made it that far.

I don’t think so. They had the car listed only a day or two after they had it in their hands. They didn’t even clean it. Anyone who knows even a little bit about these cars though knows 12K is to much. Not when 60K mileage cars start at maybe a grand or two more.

assume you saw the current blipshift shirt is a fiesta theme?
I have wanted an ST for a while, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to be free of the abarth. I’ve contemplated waiting for the new 3 cylinder one...idk. I’m wishy washy about it.

Common practice for dealers is to turn and burn... if they can sell it dirty and broken they will before they spend a dime on it making it LEGAL, even.
Eventually it’ll get cleaned up, get inspected, maybe get fixed....

I wouldn’t want to even look back at this point. You never know though, maybe it’s still out and about. As unlikely that may be, stranger things have happened.

Yup that’s what I figured. They probably think they’ll list it and it won’t take to long to sell because it’s a Mach 1 and very well taken care of. I just want it gone so I never have to see the car again. To many memories.

I’ve got the same feels. Traded my BRZ in on a S3 about three weeks ago, it’s very sad to leave a car behind that you genuinely liked and put a lot of hard work into. It’s not listed by the dealer anymore, so I’m guessing they either sold it, sent it to auction or to another dealer. So sad. :(
I actually wrote a note and tucked it in the owners manual, letting the next owner know the fluids that were in it, when they were last changed and any modifications that I wasn’t able to remove before trading it in.

If it’s gone, I’ll never know - I do comb various websites, looking at ‘65 Cutlasses and Skylarks for sale. If I ever did stumble on the actual car I owned, either of them, I’d buy them, regardless of condition/price, and sort out the details later.

I’ve been going back and forth on the shirt because I don’t need another grey shirt and I just spent 80 dollars for just two shirts. But I really should just buy it because in no way will 20 bucks kill me.
I would just drive one. That’s what sold me. I have no idea how it would compare to the Abarth, but either way it’s still a lot of fun. I do know of one big advantage and that’s value. Abarth’s seem to drop like a rock. ST’s are strong right now, there are used ones with 15K going for about 19 thousand. That’s crazy.
There is actually a chance we might not even get the new Fiesta unfortunately. 2018 in the US model year will be the current car and sales are slow. I thought about waiting for it myself but I would’ve been waiting awhile.

My dad actually snuck out the owner’s manual and gave it to me as memorabilia, haha! That’s nice though, I’m always weary of mods on used cars.

Yup. Especially with that (Extremely minor) accident on the Carfax. If the potential buyer knew what really happened it wouldn’t be a big deal, but they won’t.

That’s pretty much my line of thought on this car. If I do and it hasn’t been torn to bits I’ll buy it based on pure emotion. I would probably hate driving it after all this time, but I really want it back.

When my Dad picked up his Series Yellow last weekend we grabbed a couple of shots of it along side his old 2013. He’s at the dealer now picking up the last of the registration paperwork and having the state inspection done. I wonder if he saw his 2013 on the lot.

I hear you - I didn’t really appreciate what I had in the first car. It wasn’t pretty, but it *was* a great car. ‘65 Cutlass, with just under 24k on it. Beige, and sat outside, so it didn’t look pretty, but it was light and the motor was strong. Got reeled in by a guy at school selling a ‘65 Skylark convertible, so I sold it to buy that - which looked stunning (dark metallic green/white top/tan int), but it was mechanically a POS, and I ‘totaled’ it within a few months. That was easily fixable (just a front clip) but odds are that thing was crushed after that.
But your FiST must be a blast to drive, though, so that’s all good—

My dad and I both agree that yellow doesn’t always work on a car but it looks really good on the BRZ.

It’s funny because I sent a note to a coworker about a CPO one that’s price right I think. 2015 Molten Orange 20k miles $16.4k - I work for Ford and next thing I know he’s talking to the dealer on something else and says hey you still have the orange fiesta? They’re running numbers for me at the moment

I had a 100% original 1968 Triumph Spitfire. It got totaled THE WEEK I was going to take it off the road for restoration.
I literally sat in the parking lot at work and cried like a baby.
After that, I no longer have a deep emotional attachment to my cars. Hurts too much. When they are sold, die or get crashed...I just keep it moving.
When I get another collectible, I will probably change my mind. But while I am driving 21st century autos...disposable.
![]() 07/06/2017 at 17:31 |

I’ll admit, I cried a little when I got rear ended. It couldn’t have been more minor, but I spent an entire day detailing the car for a show (And I won it!) just to have someone not pay attention and ruin all of that work. And maybe I cried more when I was about to go through with buying the ST.
But that’s what is so great about the ST, here they’re still a rare car but if something happens so what? I just get another. I never found a Mach 1 quite like the one I had in the past three years. It was irreplaceable.

Some companies aren’t in your face enough with their yellows and instead give you an ugly pastel shade that’s more of an off white than a yellow.

Looks like you and the previous owners took good care of it, that thing is immaculate!
I’m not helping, am I?
![]() 07/06/2017 at 18:01 |

Thanks! And no, it doesn’t help. But it feels good when other people say things like that so it helps a little. The car looked even better all cleaned up and with the newer set of headlights that were on the car.

I cried when my dad sold my first car (2001 Expedition Eddie Bauer with the 5.4). Everything felt better when I was driving it like the world was okay which was hard for me with the abusive family and unmanaged depression. I picked it out when I was younger and learned how to drive in it and learned a lot about driving with it. The size and weight of it kept me out of trouble behind the wheel because I couldn’t do more stupid things like bad speeding and maneuvers. I still miss that truck and every couple of years I run a vin check on it to see if it still lives.

Why is the front wheel so far back in the wheel well?
![]() 07/06/2017 at 19:29 |

I think they had a wheel turned and it was on an incline. Must have created a weird affect.

Oh man, I feel you there. When I sold my first car to CarMax to buy my first smart, I occasionally Googled my old car’s VIN to see where it ended up.
It spent 3 years going through auction after auction after auction until finally getting into the hands of someone living in Kenosha. I have to say, every time I’m out there I keep an eye out. Checking out pictures on auction sites, nobody bothered to remove my “I AM THE STIG” decal. :’)
